Some things just don't bounce well. I was taking photos of my friend's cats, while I was playing with them. Went to flip a string for them to chase, and my camera flew out of my hand. It landed directly on the lens system, much to my horror. You have to understand, I have carried my little camera with me everywhere, every single day for the past 3 years. We were a team. When it flew out of my hand I cried out, "Oh no." I am feeling a great sense of loss. So, now I am on a hunt searching for a camera to take its place. What should I get? Reviews and reviewers, cannot see what is important to me.

Rather be Lucky than Good

I was on vacation last week and got some great shots. I met my mother and brother at an equal distance location which ends up being near Williamsburg, Va. My brother, niece, and and sister-in-law are also photo buffs. (They have really nice DSLR - 3 of them.) Anyway, we got up very early in the morning (6:00 am) to do some shooting. I promised myself not to walk on the regular path. I tried to follow a rule my daughter has, of "look the other direction." So I went in all the back gardens, and never stepped on the main street of Williamsburg. Well that was until my sister-in-law called me on my cell phone and said, "Hey we are all at the car. Where are you?" They were driving, so I had to hustle. haha Anyway, I got some great shots.

One was particularly fun. I had seen this gazebo and the early morning sun was hitting it through the trees. So I started taking shots. When we got back to our time shares, we all looked at each other's shots. We put them up on the big screen and then talk about the shots. They are not edited, or color corrected but it is fun to see what every one else captured. I showed this one shot, of a gazebo, with golden light streaming through the trees. My brother said, "Wow, how did you ever do that?" haha, Like a magician, photographers never give away their secrets. (Ok, ok, yes we do. haha)

Sometimes you just happen to be in the right place at the right time. In Williamsburg the grounds crew work early, so as not to bother the regular tourist (they show up around 9:00 am). Just as I walked up the guy started mowing. The mower blades kicked up all this dust, which caused the light passing through the trees to glow. Presto, a world of magic. I love it when a plan comes together. Oh wait, that is a different show. I mean, I love it when a picture comes together.

We had a wonderful time while at my brother in law's wedding in Las Vegas. I was shocked at how clean the air always seemed to be. Of course Vegas had lots to see and visit. During the day we had a chance to see many types of architecture. At night the city was filled with lights. All in all we had a great time.
